Edmund is our CEO and Founder. He came to East Africa in 2008 to volunteer as a teacher and was instantly taken by the number of refugees without access to education. He has since dedicated his life to building Xavier Project, empowering refugees through education. He recently received the Queen’s Young Leadership Award for his work. He enjoys hiking in Masaai lands, writing for his blog and spending time with his family.
Tamuka Director, Kenya
Dexter is our Tamuka Director. He has taken an interesting path to education, technology, and refugees. Trained in Archaeology, he became interested in working with refugees while working in Palestine. When not planning great things for Tamuka he can be found either writing another novel, making films with Ashley or exploring the Rift Valley and enjoying the night sky.
Our Financial Director brings light and energy to the office. She became interested in refugees after attending workshops that Xavier Project held to assist refugees in business planning. She realized how vulnerable they were and decided to do more to support them through education. Our caring and outgoing member of the team loves spending time with friends and family and listening to old music. She hopes to do more in the future to help street children and empower women.
Education Director, Uganda
Edgar is our Education Director in Uganda. He studied community development and social work and later decided to focus on refugees by getting a Masters in Migration Studies. He is a very kind and patient person who looks forward to expanding Xavier Project's education programmes around Uganda. When not at work he is usually with his family or swimming, or both!
Tamuka Director, Uganda
Peter comes to the Tamuka team with a background in Development Studies and a desire to pursue Refugee and Migration Studies. He is an ambitious and methodical person with great hopes of seeing Tamuka hubs all over Kampala. When not at work he likes to read and listen to country music.
ECD Coordinator/ Human Resources
We call her the Renaissance Woman in the office because she tackles everything from Human Resources to Early Childhood Development. She has a degree in Community Development and uses this to support the empowerment of refugees in Kenya. She would like to work in peacekeeping in the future. This adaptable and people orientated individual loves spending time reading, cooking and her new passion, yoga.
Tamuka Hub Manager, Uganda
Alex is our Tamuka Hub Manager in the Uganda office. He has a degree in Information Technology and an interest in design. He became involved in refugee issues because he is actually refugee from the genocide in Rwanda. He is passionate about empowering fellow refugees through training at Tamuka.
Education Specialist, Kenya
Mercy is our Education Specialist. She has a degree in Education from the University of Nairobi. She truly enjoys working with teachers to help them become better teachers. Mercy believes that quality education is one thing that can never be taken away from someone once they are given it. She hopes to make quality education available to all in Kenya. When not at work, she loves to spend time with her family and friends.
Library Coordinator, Uganda
Christine is our wonderful Library Coordinator. She comes to Xavier Project with a teaching certificate and a love for reading. She is committed to working with vulnerable children. Her goals are to increase literacy amongst children and to start programmes with adults. In her spare time she enjoys spending time with her friends and thinking of new projects for the kids.
Florence is our Finance Officer. She is a talented accountant that is organized and compassionate. During post election violence, it dawned on her that anyone could become a refugee and she became interested in working with them. She spends her off time reading gospel materials. She hopes to continue to assist refugees and to find more ways to empower them.
Communications Officer, UK
Josie is our Communications Officer based in London. She studied French and History at university and became interested in helping refugees whilst living in Jordan as a child. She pursued her interest in International Development when she spent time working in Ghana and Nairobi. She is determined, motivated and inquisitive. When she is not at work, or volunteering for Xavier Project, she enjoys playing sports, exploring new countries, cooking for friends and trips to the seaside.
