Xavier Project in partnership with the Tegla Lorupe Peace Foundation and UNHCR are implementing a refugee sports programme that identifies and nurtures talent from refugee camps in Kenya. The majority of this work takes place in Ololua, Ngong in Kajiado County. Xavier Project facilitates the selected athletes with education and vocational training programmes, facilitates the purchase of necessary sports equipment and pays stipends for the athletes. In 2016 we were proud to see 5 refugees participate in the Rio de Janeiro Olympics in Brazil as part of the first Refugee Team. They have also participated in national events including the Ndakaini Half Marathon and the Standard Chartered Marathon in Kenya.
